NASA's WISE camera, using infrared to detect "hot" asteroids, those close enough to the solar wind to heat appreciably compared to the cold cosmic background, has already found 25,000 new asteroids within 6 months, almost 100 of which are Near Earth Orbit (NEO) ones.
